টানা কয়েকদিনের সীমান্ত উত্তেজনা ও হামলা-পাল্টা হামলার পর অবশেষে যুদ্ধবিরতিতে পৌঁছেছে ভারত ও পাকিস্তান। দুই দেশই আজ শনিবার এই যুদ্ধবিরতির সিদ্ধান্ত নিশ্চিত করেছে।
ভারতীয় সময় বিকাল পাঁচটা থেকে স্থল, আকাশ ও জলপথে সব ধরনের সামরিক কর্মকাণ্ড বন্ধ থাকবে বলে ঘোষণা দিয়েছে ভারত। পাকিস্তানও এ সিদ্ধান্ত কার্যকরের বিষয়ে সম্মতি জানিয়েছে।
ভারতের পররাষ্ট্র সচিব বিক্রম মিশ্রি জানান, শনিবার দুপুর ৩টা ৩৫ মিনিটে পাকিস্তানের ডিরেক্টর জেনারেল মিলিটারি অপারেশন্স (ডিজিএমও) ভারতের ডিজিএমও-কে ফোন করেন। দুই পক্ষের আলোচনা শেষে সিদ্ধান্ত হয় যে, বিকাল ৫টা থেকে দুই দেশের সেনাবাহিনী সব ধরণের অস্ত্র ব্যবহার বন্ধ রাখবে।
তিনি আরও জানান, দুই ডিজিএমও আবার কথা বলবেন ১২ মে, সোমবার দুপুর ১২টায়।
বিবিসির প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প তাঁর মালিকানাধীন সামাজিক মাধ্যম ট্রুথ-এ একটি পোস্টে যুদ্ধবিরতির বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। তিনি লেখেন, “যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মধ্যস্থতায় দীর্ঘ এক রাতের আলোচনার পর, আমি আনন্দের সঙ্গে ঘোষণা দিচ্ছি—ভারত ও পাকিস্তান তাৎক্ষণিক ও পূর্ণ যুদ্ধবিরতিতে সম্মত হয়েছে।”
ট্রাম্প দুই দেশকে “সঠিক জ্ঞান ও অসাধারণ বুদ্ধিমত্তা ব্যবহারের জন্য” অভিনন্দন জানান।
যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী মার্কো রুবিওও এক্সে (X) পোস্ট করে যুদ্ধবিরতির বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন। তিনি লেখেন, “শান্তির পথে এগিয়ে চলার জন্য আমরা প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেহবাজ শরীফের প্রজ্ঞা ও নেতৃত্বের প্রশংসা করছি।”
দুই দেশের মধ্যে পরবর্তী পর্যায়ে আলোচনার জন্য নিরপেক্ষ জায়গা নির্ধারণ করা হবে বলেও জানান মার্কো রুবিও।
